I tried to start League of Legends today and encountered this error PVP.net Patcher Kernel Has Stopped Working, I searched it on google and found out that there are a lot of other players complaining about this issue. Apparently, a new patch for the game is available and the patcher is unable to start in order for it to patch the game.
Below, you will find some workarounds to fix this issue and play the game in no time. I fixed my issue in 2 minutes with the following solution.
How I Fixed PVP.net Patcher Kernel Has Stopped Working:
I found a simple workaround for this issue that fixed it for me in just 2 minutes. All that you need to do is run the game in Administrator mode. To do that right click on your League of Legends icon and click Run as Administrator. If this workaround won’t work for you check the solutions below.
Go into your League of Legends folder in C:/Riot Games
Open up the “RADS” folder.
Open up the “Projects” folder.
Open up the “lol_air_client” folder.
Open up the “releases” folder.
Open up the folder that’s in there. It changes every patch, but contains the same stuff.
Delete the two files named “S_OK” and “release manifest”
Open up the “deploy” folder.
Delete the “logs”, “META-INF”, “lol.properties”, and “LoLClient.exe”
Restart your Patcher.
It will repatch the recent patch you had just downloaded.
This will usually fix it. If not I suggest trying to do a repair from the patcher’s options. It takes from 10-20 minutes.

“Exactly what the title says, been happening to me since it went down last night…It was working fine, I had reinstalled it right before the patch went live, and downloaded the patch, my brother managed to play an ARAM all the way through, but the second one ended due to the server going down….And it hasn’t been able to get past me double clicking the exe icon since then”

I used PlayOnLinux to download League of Legends, I managed to get it updated, had to leave it overnight working.
Next day, while logging it, it left errors as 'Cannot login in server; try(5)', and things alike, I managed to get it to work, by adding 'wininet.dll' thing using WineTricks.
I restarted League of Legends with full hope, but it let me down again.
It does connect to the server, it does check my login data, it does try to log me in. So I see screens like 'Connecting to server', 'Authentication of data', 'Logging in' (note: these are not exact words, but if you used to play League, you know which screens I mean), 'Logging In' takes about 20 seconds, then program gives up and prompts me this error:
And this is when I can't Google further. I google League, I googled update issue, I googled connectivity issue, I googled network driver issue, but I can't google this. I think some of you have been through this and could help me.

I solved this thanks to an answer posted on the forums (answer by Metaph on page 2). Before playing the game, just do:
Note that this may have a negative impact on your browsing experience (e.g. slower streaming), so you should turn it back on once you've finished playing, and I strongly discourage setting this up automatically when booting (just in case). The default is

for a reason.UPDATE: this was apparently fixed on their end, so this should no longer be needed.

I do the same thing, apparently it's a server-side issue.
Firstly, using some google Zen skills, I found this: https://downdetector.com/status/league-of-legends.
Also, pinging the login server my Box tried to connect to gives some strange results:
Look at dat package loss!
So just wait I suppose :)

This happened to me. but somehow I got it working. ._.1. Make sure there's no updates.?2. Make sure you have LoL installed in your Applications folder3. Make sure Firewall is turned off (should be turned off)4. If none of this works - well - repair it. It worked after I repaired.

Have you tried reinstalling the game? Or Repairing the install?
This is a bit of a common error.
Also, when you ran the install, did you run it as an administrator?
You can also try these steps:
- Close out your game/patcher, hit ctrl+alt+delete and make sure all instances of LoL.Launcher are gone, then restart the patcher process and let it sit.
- Go to your Riot Games/RADS/System folder under your default install path, and run the rads_user_kernel.exe file, then try starting your patcher.
- See this article, http://support.leagueoflegends.com/entries/234188-changing-to-public-dns-servers
- Replace /RADS/system/rads_user_kernel.exe with this file, http://l3cdn.riotgames.com/releases/live/system/rads_user_kernel.exe
- Try installing Microsoft Dot NET Framework 4.0, http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=17851 and 3.5, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e..displaylang=en

Right clicking and running as administrator works most of the time. Try it first.
